What should you wear if you don't have hiking boots for hiking?

If you don't have hiking boots, that's not a problem. Hiking boots are great for hiking, but not everyone needs them.

In fact, many people hike in running shoes or other athletic shoes. And if you're hiking on a well-maintained trail and only going to be out for an hour or two, there are even options for wearing sneakers.

If you're just getting started with hiking, it's best to start with shoes that have good traction and provide some ankle support. This way, you'll have more confidence on the trail and avoid injury. If your feet slip around in your shoe when you walk around the house, they will probably do so when you're walking uphill or downhill too!

When buying new shoes for hiking, look for something with plenty of tread and some cushioning underfoot (but not too much). You want something that's comfortable enough that it doesn't hurt to walk in them yet sturdy enough to keep your feet protected from rocks and roots while walking over uneven ground.
