This story dates back to when I was just starting to run ads between 2021 and 2022. Today, I’m here to share how I’ve been working in affiliate marketing with a local affiliate network in Vietnam. Some of the experiences and advice may not fully apply to the current market, so please take this as a fun sharing session—and no harsh criticism, okay?

A Word of Caution: If you come across training courses that ask you to register affiliate accounts for online earning and then charge you a fee, steer clear. I can confidently say that reputable affiliate platforms in Vietnam allow you to register an account completely free of charge.

Which Campaigns Do I Choose?

I prefer CPS (Cost Per Sale) campaigns because they offer high commissions, quick approvals, and are relatively easy to manage. One campaign I focus on is MoneyVeo, which is currently a hot offer on the platform.

How Do I Run Affiliate Campaigns Like MoneyVeo?

When I first started affiliate marketing for financial campaigns, it was extremely tough and discouraging.

I had little understanding of how to run Facebook Ads. Driven by enthusiasm and seeing others share their case studies, I jumped right into running ads with minimal preparation—except for my naivety and initial capital. Of course, I suffered heavy losses (Failure #1).

I then went back to square one, learning about Facebook Ads from scratch. I recreated my fan pages, learned to set up ad accounts, consulted my AM at Dinos, revamped my ad content, and prepared banners. After multiple revisions, I finally got my ads approved.

Despite this, I still lost money, as my ads weren’t optimized. Running traffic ads (click to web) for financial offers with a daily budget of around 230,000 VND (the default limit for new personal ad accounts) resulted in high CPCs, low clicks, and no conversions.

Switching to Messenger Ads: A New Approach

I decided to invest in a course about running ads through Facebook Messenger (I won’t name the course to avoid promoting it). After completing the course, I started combining Messenger ads with chatbot systems.

Note #1: In basic terms, Messenger ads allow customers to click on your ad and open a chat box. From there, a chatbot with a pre-built script handles the communication, introducing offers and following up with customers.

I started building chatbot scripts tailored to potential customers looking for financial services. After a week of running Messenger ads with a budget of 200,000–300,000 VND per day, I still faced losses but noticed improvements. The losses decreased over time, and the number of successful leads increased.

Following advice from others in the field, I raised my daily budget to around 500,000 VND. Although I incurred higher losses initially, the trend quickly reversed. Unfortunately, after three days, my page was flagged, and my ad account was banned for violating Facebook’s ad policies.

Learning from Failure: Adjusting and Scaling

After repeated setbacks, I felt demoralized but also motivated to keep going, as I saw gradual improvements.

I created new ad accounts and fan pages, hoping to scale once my original page was reinstated. Gradually, my daily losses turned into small profits, and I broke even after a month.

In the second month, my daily profits ranged from 200,000 to 300,000 VND and steadily increased.

Note #2: There are two ways to scale:

1. Increase the budget for a single page.
2. Increase the number of pages while keeping the budget per page constant.

I opted for the second method, spreading the budget across multiple pages for greater stability. I paused scaling after reaching six pages, with each page running at a daily budget of 500,000 VND. My daily profits stabilized at around 30% of the total budget, roughly 900,000 VND.
